Many associates from all over the world play a part in making Christian Brands a great success.
We started traveling to Asia in 1978, and have grown familiar and comfortable with customs and cultures throughout the globe. In the early eighties we worked with Taiwanese firms specializing in porcelain and poly resin, and as political pressure eased in China in the middle eighties we moved with the current business trends to Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Dongguan, China.
While recognizing lower prices in Asia, we remained sensitive to our customers' need for quality and tradition that emanated from Italy, Greece and England. We established strong friendships over the years that remain today in many countries of Western Europe, but have a particular specialty in Italy, where we have an office outside of Milan.
In 2001, we began traveling to India due to their fast rising emergence, and have found factories and business partners that could develop brass ware and textiles. We have growing product categories coming from both Moradabad and Noida, and have an established business in New Delhi.
After our acquisition of Robert Smith Furniture in 2001, we started a relationship with a wood furniture firm outside Bangkok, Thailand, and are now producing quality eastern Maple furniture in an assortment of finishes.
With the wax candle anti-dumping duties imposed by the Department of the Treasury in 2003, we have moved our candle business to Vietnam and have developed a wonderful business relationship with Venard Studios near Danang. We have also developed working relationships with factories in Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City.
At the University of the Philippines, in Diliman, Quezon City, we have developed an intern program that gives young Philippine artists an opportunity to sharpen their artistic skills, while earning a living drawing, sketching, concepting and coloring new product ideas for our range of brands. We also intend to develop fine art portraits that can be used for gift products, as well and spiritual images for prayer books and children's bibles.
As prices have increased in the Guangdong province of China nearest to Hong Kong, we have recognized this trend and have set our sights on the provinces to the north, as we add cities like Shanghai, Ningbo, Hangzhou and Yiwu to our quarterly Asian trips.
To fully develop and promote our products in a wide array of brands we need an immense amount of help from our partners abroad. With thanks, we recognize our friends worldwide that allow us to offer distinctive products of value to our customers.
